News Roundup

This is a roundup of news and other interesting pieces that I’ve come across over the last few days. Read about a free 10-night MSC cruise, Hyatt Globalist Challenge, confusing changes to Dell Rewards Program, Global Airlines and Amex partnership, worst Hyatt stay, and now changing Aeroplan awards online.

Free 10-night MSC European cruise experience

It cost $513 for a family for four to get 10 nights of food, lodging, and transportation to visit Marseille, France; Málaga, Spain; Cádiz, Spain; Lisbon, Portugal; Alicante, Spain; Mahon, Spain; and Olbia, Italy. That is of course only half the story of this “free” MSC cruise around Europe in a balcony cabin, thanks to the magic of gaming casino status matching, but it’s pretty amazing on the surface.

Hyatt Globalist Fast Track Challenge: Earn It In Just 20 Nights With FoundersCard

There is a new Hyatt Globalist challenge, mere weeks after the amazing Bilt Hyatt challenge just wrapped up. While that one was free to get in on, this FoundersCard Hyatt Globalist challenge will cost you some cheddar. That is because FoundersCard is a lifestyle card for the rich and famous…err for the small business owner or entrepreneur. We’ll get into the details of FoundersCard a bit and then the Hyatt status challenge.

Confusing Changes to Dell Rewards Program

You probably have seen the emails from Dell about the new program. Long story short, the Dell Rewards program is still confusing, but now there are more ways to earn Dell Points and more Dell Points = more Dell Dollars, so I guess this is a positive change

Global Airlines and American Express set for take-off with new partnership

Global will commence operations with two transatlantic routes. Through the new partnership, American Express Cardmembers will be among the first to be able to purchase tickets across all three cabins onboard the Global Airlines A380 aircraft; First, Business and Economy. The airline is also determined to improve the way people travel when working and is seeking to attract business travelers to its newly designed and refurbished cabins.

After My Worst Hyatt Stay In 15 Years, Am I Due Compensation?

“There was one person working the desk and a line of people. When it was my turn I learned that they’d screwed up. Though check-in took awhile, with kids interrupting for staff help because they’d thrown their shoes onto the roof…I found a hotel room with hair on the bathroom floor. There was no more housekeeping on site. And since I wasn’t on the top floor, and kids were running around late into the night, there was pounding on the ceiling above.”

Yay: Change Aeroplan Awards Online

Air Canada’s Aeroplan program has just rolled out a fantastic improvement to its online self-service options. It’s now possible to change Aeroplan awards online, which I’d consider to be a majorly positive development for those of us who frequently use the program for redemptions.
