File Taxes for Free with Cash App Taxes
Cash App Taxes is a new free service from Cash App users. Well it’s no completely new. It was previously known as Credit Karma Tax, which some people might be familiar with.
Since being acquired by Cash App in November 2020, the tax preparation service will remain similar, but will just have a different name. Cash App Taxes will offer free tax preparation online or through the app. And if you filed tax returns with Credit Karma Tax previously, you may still access your information online if you send a request while filing your 2021 returns.
Cash App Tax lets you file your federal and state tax returns online. You’ll need to download Cash App onto your phone and create an account. There’s also a $5 bonus when you do so, and send $5 to anyone. Free tax filing will then appear as an option on the home menu in your Cash app.
You may file tax returns online or through the app once you verify your identity. Cash App Taxes supports most of the popular IRS tax filing forms, so most people should be able to use it to file their taxes. But there are some forms and situations Cash App won’t support. That includes things like working in more than one state, earning foreign income, form 1040-NR and more.
Cash App will require you to file for your federal tax return before filling out your state tax return.
