Southwest Giving 25K Points to Passengers Affected by Holiday Meltdown
Southwest has already promised to reimburse customers for any reasonable expenses during it’s holiday meltdown. But today, the airline also started sending out points to customers who were scheduled to fly during that period and experience cancellations or heavy delays.
“For those who have requested refunds, reimbursements and/or are waiting to be reunited with lost bag(s), those processes are being handled with great urgency and we appreciate your patience'” the email says. “Additionally, please accept this gesture of goodwill of 25,000 Rapid Rewards® bonus points.” The email subject is “A message from Southwest CEO Bob Jordan”. Everyone seems to getting the same amount of points, regardless of how much they paid for their flight.
In the email you will find a code that you can use to claim your points from points.com. If more people were flying with you during that period, you should receive multiple codes.
The points are worth about $300 per passenger, which in some cases could be even more than what you paid for your flights. Check your email and hopefully you have received these codes if you were affected.
