If you are keen to get started with your print on demand shop, you might be wondering if Printful UK are worth signing up with? Let's take a look.
What is print on demand?
Print on demand, sometimes called POD, is where you can sell your own custom designs on different types of products.
Instead of ordering lots of items in various colours and sizes and holding on to stock (with a big financial outlay) these items are printed on demand from third-party providers.
The ‘on demand' bit means that when an item sells it triggers an order from your supplier, who take care of everything else for you.
Printful UK…doesn't exist
Okay, hear me out.
Printful exist, but Printful UK does not exist.
However, Printful absolutely support print on demand creators in the UK.
They will print your designs and ship them to anywhere in the world, including the United Kingdom.
This is a great thing, because it means your designs aren't just for sale in the UK, and you can reach more buyers.
Printful UK shipping costs
I'll be the first to admit that the postage costs from Printful to the UK can seem high.
However, they do give you the option to display your products with free shipping/postage costs, and you price your item a little higher to cover this.
How much can you earn with Printful?
Printful allow you to price your products yourself, and they will show you the price you make per sale (before any merchant or shop fees like your Etsy fees).
Printful will display your prices in GBP and you can choose to change (both increase and decrease) your prices by an amount (to cover free postage), a percentage or set all of your prices individually.
I have played around with the prices in my store because, as a plus size person, I hate being charged extra for a bigger size. Since that is my personal preference I make less money per sale but my customers get the same price to them.
As you can see, I don't earn a ton of money per sale from Printful UK, but it is all passive income once my shop has been made and my designs have been uploaded.
Free mockups with Printful
Another fantastic benefit of using Printify is that you get free mockups with them.
Whilst you can of course make your free mockups in Canva, Printify does them all for you whilst you are creating your product, and automatically uploads them to your platform of choice, like Etsy or Shopify.
Are Printful UK good for print on demand?
Printful are the company I have chosen to stock my Etsy store with print on demand products from.
They handled my first sale perfectly – letting me know I had a sale and creating the product and dispatching it the same day. The buyer was informed of this immediately with absolutely no involvement from me.
