Flying Blue to Add Free Stopovers on Air France and KLM Awards
Stopovers are great way to add an extra stop to your itinerary for cheap, or even free. A stopover is simply just a long layover, but it can be a mini-vacation of a few days. Rules about stopovers vary by airline, but Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan and Air Canada Aeroplan are two popular examples where stopovers are allowed.
But soon Air France-KLM Flying Blue will join them. The news was revealed during a webinar for Flying Blue members in Europe, and was first reported by One Mile at a Time. The airline says it will introduce free stopovers on award tickets soon.
From the information revealed so far, it sounds like free stopovers will be available on any available one-way award, and not just the highest priced fares. This would make it much more useful and add lots of value to the Flying Blue program. It’s not clear if free stopovers will be allowed on partner awards.
Air France-KLM Flying Blue is already a popular program especially for transatlantic business travel. Additionally, earning miles is quite easy.
