United and Emirates Codeshare Announcement Expected on Sept 14
United Airlines and Emirates are expected to announce codeshare agreement soon. The official announcement seems set for September 14, but there are few details so far on what we might expect initially.
The two airlines, one based in Chicago and the other in Dubai, have given a few hints on Twitter.
Reuters also reports that United on Tuesday sent an invitation to reporters to a “special event” on September 14 titled “Come fly with us” with CEO Scott Kirby and Emirates President Tim Clark in Washington. The news was reported a few hours ago by The Air Current as well, which is a reliable aviation news site.
I have reached out United Airlines and Emirates, but they have not provided any comment regarding the news.
Once announced, the codeshare would allow both airlines customers to access to additional destinations that each do not currently not serve. The airlines already have two of the largest international networks.
