Hurricane season is upon us, and people who live along the Gulf Coast are watching the weather. Everyone knows a hurricane or severe storm can knock out electric power for days or weeks. Prudent people prepare for a power outage by stocking up on batteries, food, and water.
And millions of people own portable emergency generators, which they keep on standby in case they lose electric power. These generators produce enough electricity to run a refrigerator and a couple of portable fans. They make it possible for Southerners to survive without air-conditioning for long periods.
Now the Biden administration, which constantly looks for ways to make Americans miserable, is proposing regulations that would ban the sale of these emergency generators. Under rules introduced by the Consumer Product Safety Commission, portable generators will be required to automatically shut down once they produce a certain level of carbon monoxide. In addition, new generators must be designed to reduce carbon monoxide emissions by at least 50 percent over current models. Almost all current portable generators will be out of compliance with the proposed regulations.
Biden’s soulless minions justify the new regulations as a weapon to fight global warming. How many of these anonymous bureaucrats have lived in the South and experienced two weeks of summer heat without air-conditioning?
It has yet to be determined when the new environmentally compliant generators will be sold. When they do appear, they will undoubtedly be considerably more expensive than the generators now on the market.
I don’t believe the new generator rules were introduced in good faith. The Biden administration seeks ways to harass and persecute the American people. Our government’s obsession with transgender athletics, for example, is not a civil rights initiative. It’s just a malicious attempt to erode the integrity of women’s collegiate sports. And Biden’s economic policy is not designed to make Americans more prosperous; it’s a cunning and duplicitous way to redistribute the nation's private wealth.
How much environmental damage do emergency generators create compared to the ecological damage done by the cluster bombs our government sends to Eastern Europe? How much pollution do these generators emit compared to the noxious gases created by John Kerry’s private jet?
Americans should realize that the Biden administration hates the American people, particularly those living in Flyover Country. Portable emergency generators ease the suffering of average Americans who have lost electric power due to hurricanes or other natural disasters. Therefore, these generators must be banned.
